Teresa Pitcher, DNP, CRNP, PMHNP is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Her mental health experience includes outpatient and inpatient settings and also inpatient drug and alcohol treatment. She also has a strong background in adult physical health, working in emergency and critical care for many years.
Dr. Pitcher specializes in adults with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and intellectual disabilities. In addition to her faculty appointment at Wilkes University, she is the founder and clinical director of Avant Wellness Associates, a mental health clinic focusing on whole-person centered treatment. Clinical interests include geriatric psychiatry, novel approaches to treatment resistant mental illness, and health and wellness in the SPMI population.
Dr. Pitcher completed nursing school at Arnot-Ogden School of Nursing in Elmira, NY, received a Bachelors of Nursing degree from Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, ME, received her Masters of Nursing degree with a specialization in psychiatry from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and obtained a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Wilkes University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and maintains professional affiliations with the American Nurses Association (ANA), American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (PACNP), and Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA).
