
Dr. Teresa Pitcher is a full-time faculty of practice and a nationally board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She specializes in adults with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and intellectual disabilities. In addition to her faculty appointment at Wilkes University, she is the founder and clinical director of Avant Wellness Associates, a mental health clinic focusing on whole-person-centered treatment. Her clinical interests include geriatric psychiatry, novel approaches to treatment-resistant mental illness, and health and wellness in the SPMI population.
Dr. Pitcher is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and maintains professional affiliations with the American Nurses Association, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Pitcher completed nursing school at Arnot Ogden School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor’s in nursing from Saint Joseph’s College, a master’s degree in nursing with a specialization as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from Drexel University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Wilkes University.
