How long do the nursing programs take to complete?

Note: The length of time listed is based on the total amount of required courses for each program. An analysis of previous coursework may shorten total length of time to complete.

Each program varies:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) — Nurse Practitioner (NP) program:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration: 16 courses / 7 terms / 2.3 years
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) concentration: 14 courses / 6 terms / 2 years
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) concentration: 15 courses / 7 terms / 2.3 years   

How much do the online nursing programs cost?

Note: Tuition listed is based on the number of required courses for each program. An analysis of previous coursework may allow for fewer courses and in turn, a lower net cost when applicable.

Tuition for each program is different but highly competitive. A review of official transcripts will determine a student’s course of study.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) — Nurse Practitioner (NP) program:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration: $35,045 (Maximum amount and includes fees)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) concentration: $32,600 (Maximum amount and includes fees)
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) concentration: $34,230 (Maximum amount and includes fees)

Curriculum

This course presents an overview of the full and comprehensive health assessment of patients across the life span. Emphasis on multiple aspects of assessment including physical, functional, and mental health assessment along with transcultural variations, will prepare the student for advanced nursing practice.

Family/Across the Lifespan Nurse Practitioner students integrate theories from nursing and other sciences that are evidence-based and sensitive to cultural and ethical issues. Promoting quality outcomes in the family population across the lifespan is the focus of the clinical experience in primary care settings. Advanced health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and the development of therapeutic interventions for self-limiting conditions are involved. Opportunities for interdisciplinary experience and collaborative practice are also provided. The seminar component of the course is designed to develop critical-thinking and clinical decision-making skills through case presentations.

(Prerequisites: NSG 500, NSG 550; Total: seminar, residency and 250 clinical practice hours; Credits: 3)

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Advance practice nursing students integrate theories from nursing and other sciences that are evidence-based and sensitive to cultural and ethical issues. Promoting quality outcomes in the adult-gerontological population across the spectrum of young adults, adults, and older adults is the focus of the clinical experience in primary care settings. Advanced health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and the development of therapeutic interventions for self-limiting conditions are involved. Opportunities for interdisciplinary experience and collaborative practice are also provided. The seminar component of the course is designed to develop critical-thinking and clinical decision-making skills through case presentations.

Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course provides a foundation for the major systems of therapy for individuals and groups used in advanced psychiatric mental health nursing and other disciplines engaged in mental health practice. A key focus of this course will be on therapeutic modalities, such as brief psychotherapy, group processes and practices, milieu therapy, and crisis intervention, as they relate to advanced nursing practice in mental health.
