Billie Burry, PhD, CRNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP, CHSE, is an accomplished advanced practice nurse, nurse educator, and academic leader whose career reflects a distinguished integration of clinical practice, graduate nursing education, healthcare simulation, and academic leadership. As a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Burry brings a comprehensive perspective to healthcare that encompasses both the physical and behavioral health needs of patients across the lifespan.
Dr. Burry earned her PhD in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education from Wilkes University. She also completed post-graduate certificates as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Wilkes University. She is nationally board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and holds the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential, demonstrating advanced expertise in the application of simulation-based education to enhance clinical competence, critical thinking, and professional practice.
Dr. Burry currently serves as Coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program and Assistant Professor of Nursing at Wilkes University. In this role, she contributes to graduate nursing education, curriculum development, program advancement, student mentorship, and the preparation of future advanced practice nurses. Her academic work is grounded in a commitment to educational excellence, evidence-based practice, and the development of highly skilled clinicians prepared to meet the increasingly complex healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities.
Complementing her academic leadership, Dr. Burry maintains an active clinical practice as a nurse practitioner with Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern Pennsylvania, a Federally Qualified Health Center. She provides comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan, with a particular commitment to underserved and unsheltered populations. Her continued engagement in direct patient care strengthens the connection between contemporary clinical practice and graduate nursing education while reflecting her dedication to improving healthcare access, reducing disparities, and advancing health equity among vulnerable populations.
Prior to joining Wilkes University, Dr. Burry served as Associate Dean of Nursing at King’s College, where she provided academic and administrative leadership and contributed to the advancement of nursing education and program development. Her breadth of experience across academic administration, advanced practice nursing, graduate education, and healthcare simulation provides a distinctive foundation for her work as both an educator and clinician.
Throughout her career, Dr. Burry has remained committed to advancing the nursing profession through excellence in education, clinical practice, leadership, and service. Her professional interests center on advanced practice nursing education, healthcare simulation, integrated physical and behavioral healthcare, care of vulnerable and underserved populations, and the preparation of the next generation of nurse practitioners to deliver compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
